Fight for your Joy…

Deuteronomy 31:1-8

Then Moses went out and spoke these words to all Israel: “I am now a hundred and twenty years old and I am no longer able to lead you.  The Lord has said to me, ‘You shall not cross the Jordan.’  The Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you.  He will destroy these nations before you, and you will take possession of their land.  Joshua also will cross over ahead of you, as the Lord said.  And the Lord will do to them what he did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, whom he destroyed along with their land.  The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”  Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their forefathers to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance.  The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

This was the promised land and the Lord was handing it over to them but not without a fight.  The land was worth fighting for.  Fight for your life and joy. The Lord goes before you but he also expects you to fight for what he is giving you. Freedom from heaviness and a world of joy.  There isn’t any shame is asking someone to fight by your side, they had a nation of people willing to give of themselves to receive their promise.

Psalms 34: 1-3, 18

I will extol the Lord at all time; his praise will always be on my lips.  My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.  Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. … The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Let a song of praise always flow for you lips, even when you don’t feel like singing or saying anything, for once your mouth forms the words and the sounds leaves your tongue your break through is at hand.  The harder it is to sing the louder you should shout!

Romans 5:5

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.  And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of GOd.  Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possible dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!  For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!  Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Someone has already died to bring you wholeness, you don’t have to carry your burdens alone.
